You make lemonade! August 20th is National Lemonade Day, so why not make a glass and sit back and relax as summer winds down to end at the Montclair Gardens in Montclair, NJ.
Lemonade
3/4 cup fresh Lemon Juice
2 Quarts of Water
1/2 cup Sugar
- Boil water in a pot and add sugar, mix until dissolved
- Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature
- Add lemon juice and stir
- Serve over ice with a slice of fresh lemon on rim of glass
Strawberry Lemonade
1/2 pound fresh Strawberries, stem removed
1 1/2 cup Sugar
5 cups Water
1 1/2 cup fresh Lemon Juice
- Puree strawberries in blender
- Boil water and add sugar, stir until dissolved
- Remove from heat to cool to room temperature
- Add strawberry puree and lemon juice, stir to combine
- Serve over ice with a slice of fresh lemon rim of glass
Lavender Lemonade
Handful of fresh Lavender flowers, or 1 tablespoon dried flowers
1 cup Sugar
2 Cups boiling Water
1 1/2 cup Fresh Lemon Juice
2 cups cold Water
- Place lavender and sugar into a bowl, using hands rub the flowers into the sugar
- Pour boiling water over lavender and sugar, let infuse for minimum of 30 minutes, and up to several hours
- Strain out lavender flowers
- Stir in lemon juice and cold water
- If lemonade is too tart add more sugar
- Serve over ice, garnish with a slice of lemon and a sprig of fresh lavender
